SEGA Brings Three More Genesis Games To The Wii VC

Wonder Boy, what is the secret of your power?

SEGA have announced three more titles for Nintendo's Virtual Console on the Wii. Virtua Fighter 2 , Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and Wonder Boy in Monster World..."WONDER BOY, what is the secret of your power"......sorry. Here are the descriptions!

Virtua Fighter 2 - Virtua Fighter was the first 3D fighting game in the industry and introduced eight unique characters, each with their own martial arts style. In Virtua Fighter 2, the intrepid fighters return to the World Fighting Tournament. Take to the stage to see who will claim the championship title; will it be Lau Chan, Kage Maru, Wolf Hawkfield, Jeffry McWild, Akira Yuki, Jacky Bryant, Sarah Bryant and Pai Chan.

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle - This classic title features Alex Kidd! Alex had given up hope that his kidnapped father, King Thor, would return to the kingdom on Planet Aries. When the news arrived that he was very much alive and being held captive on the planet Paperock, Alex raced to his rescue. Throughout 11 levels, players will battle enemies and avoid obstacles while winning coins that will buy you special items and vehicles. At the end of each level, players will encounter a boss and enter into a match of “Paper, Scissors, Rock.” Throw the right symbols and you’ll be ever closer to bringing King Thor home; throw the wrong symbols and you’ll be squashed beneath a heavy weight.

Wonder Boy in Monster World - Monster World was a peaceful, happy place until one dark day when an army of BioMeka monsters invaded. Playing as a young man named Shion, gamers vow to defeat the hostile foes and make the land peaceful again. Attack enemies with swords and spears and guard against incoming projectiles with shields and armor. Travel through the many different regions of Monster World and talk to the townspeople, collect money to buy items, and gather a large variety of weapons and magic. As players progress, the weapons and equipment become more powerful, including suits of armor and boots.

Wow, Virtua Fighter 2, I don't know why I am surprised at its appearance on the Wii. Oh well, it's a fun game...I think. As for the other two games, I'm not too familiar with them...but I'm sure some of you are! Tell us about them a little bit! Full press release after the jump.

Oh dear..virtua fighter 2 for the mega drive was terrible... out of all the many many great fighting games for the system, why the heck are they releasing that one? are they hoping that people buy it thinking it's going to be like the saturn version? Bah. and while i'm ranting, where's my freaking shining force and phantasy star games sega?

what a sec though...

is that the Saturn version of VF2 or the Gensis version... cause the Gensis version really really really really sucked.

Saturn though not to shabby for the time.

Woot Alex Kidd! Used to play that game a lot, when I was a kid. Hard game though, always seemed to be squashed....

But it does seem to be the Saturn version of VF2, oh well will see when it comes out.

It is clearly the (awful) Genesis version.

Cool to see Wonder Boy coming to VC. Pretty easy side-scrolling adventure, but it's one of the first 16-bit explorative games I remember. Very Metroid-ish, what with all the back-tracking. Dammit, now I need to go hook up my Genesis so I can play this again and NOT spend money on a game I already own..

I think I'm the only nimrod who played this game and actually enjoyed it. Le sad..

VF2 for Genesis: le suck!

Alex Kidd: As fun as all the other Alex Kidds, short but sweet

Wonder Boy: This game is hot sex, featuring the first ever ocarina puzzles (at least that I know of) - suck on this, Zelda. The Leveling system is very basic, and due to the monsters behaving very much like in an ordinary jump'n'run, not as easy as it looks. Very neat extras, very neat secrets, very neat game. This is definitely worth investing a few bucks in.

Nimrod #2 signing off :P
