Silent Hill Movie Sequel Confirmed... Sorta

I will admit that I saw Silent Hill in the theaters on opening night. No, I didn't understand it either, even though I've played through every game but the first one. Don't get me wrong: I think that the movie itself was absolutely beautiful and featured some fantastic production values, but the story itself was a convoluted mess filled with pot holes that could swallow up my Ford Explorer and still have enough room for a few bodies. Still, it was better than any of the other game-based movies I've seen, and it apparently managed to gross enough movie for the possibility of a sequel to exist.
In that light, Aint' It Cool News' ace reporter, Quint, was on the set of the upcoming , when he sat down with actress Laurie Holden, who revealed (in an off-the-cuff way) that a Silent Hill sequel is in the works:
We talked a little about SILENT HILL (she was the cop in the movie) and she told me they were going forward with a sequel, but that Christophe Gans hasn’t made up his mind whether he’d do it or not.
And that's about it. So, no hints about the plot (could it please make sense this time?), nothing about Pyramid Head (bring him back!), and absolutely no clues about who's going to write/direct it (I'm all for a team of Christophe Gans and Neil Gaiman)... hopefully it'll at least retain the look of the first film and build up from there.

Unfortunately even Neil himself has quashed that rumor that he was working on the script. A sequel even partly written by him would rock.
Heh, despite the fact that the plot was a mess, it was almost totally faithful to the plot of the first game! Too many Japanese games have the 'lets sit the main character down and talk him through why everyones happening like it does' schick.
Although it was a bit streamlined and made a few time line jumps as far as the characters were concerned. i think it was pretty coherent considering the source material.
People dogged this movie, but I personally found it quite beautiful and enjoyable from start to finish.
BRING ON THE SEQUEL!!!!!
no comment. i learned my lesson.
I want it made off of the second game!
I'll say that I liked the movie, in fact I have it on Blu-Ray. It's pretty and the flaming babies still get me....freaky little bastards.
Let me make a correction to that. I liked it up to the point they go into the church. After that the story just falls into a big mess. Before that it was freaky and you didn't know what was going on. Pyramid head, flamming babies, rather impressive shifts, and the the crature in the bathroom all made for something cool.
*spoiler alert*
The idea that's she's stuck in that alternate plane leaves some interesting options for a sequel. Let's hope if they do one they run with it to something cool.
*****SPOILER******
How could Laurie Holden be in the sequel? Didn't she have her head all set on fire in the first one?
