Sony UK: PS3 Is Like SO Over This Current Next-Gen, It's Next-Next-Gen!
Sony has their spin doctors in 'Foot-in-mouth' mode, again. This time, the big guy at Sony UK, Ray Maguire, has claimed to GI.biz that PS3 is so next-gen, that it steps over the current generation and into the next-next-gen:
"Many people are saying we're now joining the next-generation console era, but I believe we've stepped over the current next-gen to create the real next-generation," said Maguire, in an exclusive interview published today.
Had enough? Well too bad! Here's some more:
Maguire believes the stand out features of the PlayStation 3 – the Blu-ray player, the HDMI and 1080p support, and the Cell chip – are all crucial to distinguishing the console from the competition."All of those things are part of moving from the PlayStation 2 era to the PlayStation 3 and leaving behind all of the middle products that are in the market place right now, which clearly don't compare in terms of technical prowess," he said.
Hmmm, I believe there is a certain system out there that already supports 1080p and will soon add HDMI technology to its already impressive innards (said system being the Xbox 360). GI.biz says Mr. Maguire would not get into comparing the two systems.... I don't blame him.
Do Peter Moore and Reggie need to come over there and straighten him out? Yes, actually, I think they do. I can imagine it now...Reggie busts in through the wall a la The Kool Aid Man, Peter Moore holds Maguire with his huge tattooed guns while Reggie slaps him in the face with the Wii-mote.

hahahah sony... you suck... because gameplay like the wii isn't next gen at all because its graphics are not the "best". If anything the wii is this "next-next gen" thing this douche bag is talking about.
Is the elite 360 going to support 1080p? Because right now the 360 only supports up to 720p or 1080i. PS3's support of 1080p is actually "the best" in that sense.

Richie: The Xbox 360 was endowed with 1080p in this past Fall's Dashboard Update. The new 360 will have HMDI output that will also support that resolution but will become standard (along with the larger hard drive) in the premium models after this limited edition Xbox runs out...at least that is my understanding.
