Take Two Sues JT...Wait, Isn't That Backward?
Actually, it might be the least backward thing involving The-Ego-That-Lurks and his itty-bitty litigious fists to happen since...well, since he got handed those five counts of professional misconduct. This, though... this is just awesome.
The latest karmic bitch-slap comes in response to JT's recent threats against Grand Theft Auto 4 and Manhunt 2 (perhaps you read about his testicular antics?), and aims to block his attempt to have those games declared a public nuisance in Florida. Take Two alleges that the public nuisance approach violates their First Amendment rights, and that the statute under which JT is seeking this latest cockblock would in essence make JT (arguably a public nuisance himself) "a private attorney general on behalf of the State of Florida." Well, we can't have that!
Take Two's explanation:
Thompson has a history of making multiple threats of legal action, whether substantiated or not, both against (Take Two) as well as the retailers who purchase the video games and offer them for sale to the public. Thompson has made such threats again in connection with Manhunt 2 and GTAIV…
They're also asking to recover legal fees and costs. How great is that?
The Ann Coulter of anti-gaming lobbyists has a rather feeble response (as bullies often do), attempting to take credit for a shareholder "revolt" that will likely oust Take Two CEO Paul Eibeler. Far be it from me to speculate on the inner workings of a corporate environment as large and diverse as Take Two, but it seems that perhaps one crackpot with a mere toehold on legitimacy has not, in fact, slain any dragons.
And kudos to Take Two for fighting fire with fire. Squeeze Jacqueline Thompson until she says she's sorry!

take 2's gotten so pissed at Thompson that they're jsut getting it over with, i hope he loses this one. he pisses me off
Well, it'll certainly be interesting to watch from the sidelines. I'm personally surprised he hasn't gone after Bioshock yet.
That dog needs to be put down like Old Yeller.
