UK Resistance Reveals PS3's 'Lies'

Gaming site UK Resistance, and its readers, have run around to different Argos stores in the U.K. to see how many PS3s remain after their sellout success in that country. The retailer provides 'In-Store Stock Display System' devices that give you the number of that item that is currently in stock.
What do those lovely people across the pond say to Sony's rather precise 165,000 PS3s sold sales figure? "BOLLOCKS." I like that word! Keep in mind that 220,000 PS3s were allocated to the U.K. and that one of these pictures is as recent as Tuesday. Has the PS3 cooled down there already? Well, if the Virgin Megastore launch is any indication, I don't doubt it. However, what did Sony lie about in the U.K. sales figures? Nothing at all, really. I'm just showing that there exists the possibility that the PS3's sales might have cooled down already.
Oh well, so it goes, we're sure to find out more as time progresses and maybe get some real numbers from an independent source. In the meantime, if you're in the U.K. and want a PS3, go to your nearest Argos as they seem to have plenty.

SONY's PS3 SALES LIES EXPOSED [UK Resistance]

I wouldn't exactly call that collection of bitter Sega fanboys an unbiased source...
Hi, I'm a Brit and, yes, PS3s are in stock pretty much everywhere, as are 360s. Wiis are still on backorder.
Insufficient demand or slight excess in supply? Ghaah! Economics begone!
Wait, I'm confused. People are saying that Sony is lying because there are PS3's in stock? Sure, Sony can be asses sometimes, but the "let's kill Sony" thing is getting a little ridiculous. They sold an impressive number of consoles at launch - now we're berating them because they are in stock?
Consoles in stock = good for gaming
Consoles not in stock = bad for gaming
This is simple math.
T.
It seems to me that bias doesn't enter into the picture when you have photographic evidence.... not pictures of what could be empty boxes, as so many people posted when the PS3 surplus was just starting in the US, but in this case the actual inventory system output.
But honestly, who cares? It obviously didn't tank in the UK the way it did in the US and Japan. If the PS3 is going to end up winning, Europe will be the first place it does.
"It obviously didn't tank in the UK the way it did in the US and Japan"
That's because we got a free 46 inch LCD TV out of it too! And a taxi ride back. Bargain! :)
Im sorry but why are you linking to uk resistance? ok so its a bit of a laugh but you cant take it seriously. All the consoles are in stock in the UK. Sony had months to make sure there was no shortage for Europe- they could have held back consoles to create a false sell out but all credit to them that they did not go down that route! It was a successful launch no taking that away leave UKR to fiddle with their dreamcasts lol
Here in france, there are PS3 almost everywhere.
I live in the close suburbs of Paris, so I don't know if the big Virgin megastore of the champs-elysées is sold out, but I wandered in a big departement store (carrefour) two days ago, and there were many PS3 stacked & available in the videogames section.
And it was more or less the same thing at the "FNAC" and other videogames stores.
The Wii is still sold out everywhere but the Fnac, where they had some left under a big sign "LA WII EST DISPONIBLE"...
The PS3 is a very expensive machine here 600 euros (800$), and as many people don't have HD tv's yet, that means another 600-1000 euros to add to the bill...
The minimum wage here is around 1200 euros/month, but many people have less (part-time jobs etc...) I don't see that many people taking loans to buy a game console (i'm sure there are some who did, though).
For the small story : the nintendo-fanboy in me screamed in terror when my boyfriend came home with a PS3 on launch day... BLASPHEMY !
After an argument about how he "wasted" our "holidays-in-japan" money, he set it up, and it was really ugly and disappointing on our small 55cm Tv, and the day after we bought a HD set... (So now, I have no money left for holidays neither, me = moron) I wanted for a long time to have an HD set, but I DIDN'T need it, yet.
Even if I'm not interested in any of the PS3 games yet, I admit that HD makes a BIG difference in the visuals, but we could have waited for the prices to go down, and MOST of all for good games to come out. (MGS4 is still far away, and will surely come on the 360 as well)...
I'm also sad that my beloved Wii looks so bad on the HD screen... even with yuv cables it's blurry and pixelated. (Zelda is a mess...)
I still love you my Wii, but you will join the PS2 in the bedroom... (T_T) on the small tv.
The PS3 didn't sell out in the UK, or even come close.
I tried again to buy a Wii the day of Launch, at Game (a pretty big retailer here), HMV and a few others.
This is mid March, over 3 months since the Wii came out but none of them had one to offer me, but all offered me a PS3. Quite embarassing considering they did midnight opening!
