Aqua Teen Movie Plays in Boston Despite Mayor's Outrage

Remember all that silly fuss back in January when the people of Boston thought that Lite Brites depicting Mooninites were bombs? Well Boston's mayor, Thomas M. Menino, is still pretty pissed about it and had asked local theaters to not screen the flick “out of respect to the people of Boston.” But the Boston Herald reports that a few theaters are deaf to his pleas:
“Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters” opens Friday on two screens: AMC Boston Common and Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge. Elizabeth Wolfe, vice president of publicity for First Look Pictures, said the film’s distributor had no trouble getting Boston theaters to show it.
The Herald also makes a good point: It's probably better for Menino that they don't ban the movie because banning it would've certainly garnered national media attention (and therefore, sold more movie tickets). But I'd pretty much forgotten that the bomb scare brouhaha ever happened until a friend sent me this news story. Like I've said before: Boston needs to chillax!

Not Boston, Menino needs to relax.

Somebody get the mayor a bloody chill pill.
Yeah believe me, we don't like our mayor's incredible overreaction to this whole situation. And after Turner claimed complete responsibility for the entire thing, the two guys who did it are STILL going to trial. Menino is not helping his reputation as being a thin-skinned little baby who always has to have his way at all.
Saw this movie yesterday. It was basically like watching ten of the cartoons. Some parts were hysterical, some parts were chuckle-worthy. If you like ATHF, check this out. If you don't... eh. Go see it if you're in Boston, if only to piss your whiny mayor off.
Totally agree with you MuddBstrd! It's definitely for the fans. Sorry if I offended Bostonians; I certainly meant to say that the mayor needs to chillax! :)
Hmm I like ATHF but it just doesn't look like something worth throwing up on a big screen since it has such a small screen style. I am torn between thinking it's best on DVD and sticking it to "Mumbles" Menino by supporting its theatrical release here ;)
I thought the movie ROCKED. It was the best thing I've seen in theatres in a long time, and the whole thing about fryman being a lesbian woman in a mans' body, well, that just means he knows women, and is definately getting laid. The thing about being womanly, is only because his testosterone levels have been bound by the ancient A*# hole tribes, for the possible fear that he may be saton. This keeps him intimidated so he can be controlled. If you couldn't intimidate fryman he would be unstoppable. Although he wouldn't be doing anything too crazy, everyone else's fear of the fact that they could no longer control him, or hurt him would make them flee for thier lives, scared like little fried puppies. But, He is definately getting laid, because he is soft, and charismic, and always wants it. He can also be fun at parties, when stupid crap doesn't happen, and he is completely awake. Drinking beer, cracking jokes, getting wild, and here comes the ladies. that's what I'm talking about baby.
You're right the Mayor needs to chill -- but then again, while everyone mentions the mooninites nonsense - no one ever seems to remember several weeks later the police department blew up a subversive traffic counter (belonging to the city) ... LOL ...Here's the news story:
