Bethesda Buys Fallout IP For $5.75 Million

No Mutants Allowed has the inside skinny on a freshly-sealed deal between Interplay and Bethesda that has BethSoft following through on their longtime licensing deal with Interplay - now they don't rent Fallout, they own it hook, line and GECK.
Bethesda has been developing Fallout 3 for quite a while, and this move only ensures (I hope it only ensures, anyway) that the Bethesda production qualities and dedication to world-building and storytelling will be unhampered by too many corporate spoons in the soup pot.
Ironically, Interplay now licenses the Fallout IP from Bethesda, as Interplay continues to work on its own Fallout-themed MMOG. But riders of the wastelands and other Fallout fans continue to focus on the long-dreamed-of triplet in the Fallout franchise's family of RPG glory.
