Get Dark And Twisty With Overlord
La la la, maiming the innocent, la la la... As an old D&D fan, it has of course always been a fantasy of mine to annihilate a village of peaceful halflings. It's a natural urge, my half-orc therapist says, to want to dismember half-sized humanoids whose only crime is having an optimistic sense of whimsy. And thanks to Overlord, come this June, I'll be able to live out my dreams of halfling slaughter - and more - on either the PC or the Xbox 360.
As you can see from the video, Overlord marries the visual quality of Oblivion with a dash of Fable, and plenty of delicious hackings and slashings. Even better, the player can summon/spawn a swarm of gremlin-like minions to run before him, scattering bits of shredded baby like rose petals beneath my feet. The player's feet. Ahem.
All this reveling in wickedry and dark humor looks like a dead-on homage to the sense of devilish humor found in the classic games Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2 - not to mention the minions. (Oh, minions...why don't I have minions?) Those games raised the bar for voice-over acting, writing quality, and above all, humor in games. It's fun to laugh. It's more fun to laugh while maiming the meek. Check out the video and let me know if you want to join my band of merry sociopaths!

I've been looking forward to this one. Can't wait for release.
I especially like what I read about the minion equipment system. And of course the whole fun of being an evil overlord.
