Lord British Takes Stephen Hawking on the Vomit Comet

Richard Garriott, the creator of the Ultima series, will be taking physicist Stephen Hawking aboard a Zero Gravity flight. On April 16th, the pair will ride in a modified Boeing 727 at an altitude of 40,000 feet to simulate the weightlessness of space flight (it does so by making multiple parabolas in the air... puke-tastic). Why, you ask? Hawking, who suffers from Lou Gehrig’s disease, has said that “people need not be limited by physical handicaps, as long as they are not disabled in spirit.” As for Garriott: Coincidentally, he’s a big investor in Zero Gravity Corp. If you’d like to experience it yourself, it’ll cost you $3,500 a pop.
