NiGHTS Journey Into Dreams Scans

NiGHTSJiD.jpg

Yoo-hoo Boy of Tomorrow, I've got some screenshots for you. A delightfully diligent carrier pigeon crested on my canopy bed, and delivered onto me the query. Ask and ye shall receive.

I was overjoyed at the confirmation of NiGHTS: Journey Into Dreams for the Wii. The original was one of my favorite system seller games. I had to have a Saturn to play that game, there was no question about it. The controls were graceful once tamed, although it was a journey just to understand what I had to do.

Jeux-France has obtained some choice scans from the new game, which look fantastic. The graphic style is similar, just expanded on the original concepts. The character art for the jester is right on the money. He looks very similar to the original character with some fancy embellishments on his jacket and some lovely brocade designs on his tights. Fortunately they included a scan of a trip-tastic boss fight, which looks like a cornucopia stuffed with eye candy.

So apparently there will be two-player multiplayer gameplay and online support. Sega is also introducing more characters to play and control with gestural movements of the Wii remote. I’m psyched, are you?

Never played this game the first time around (am I the only one creeped out by jesters?) but would definitely give it a try due to its considerable pedigree. Sonic Team usually puts out a good product, so this one is definitely on my radar.

"Sonic Team usually puts out a good product" - so this isn't being made by the Sonic Team that did any of the Sonic remakes since Sonic CD?

I never played the original either, but from all I've heard about it, I am looking forward to seeing this on the Wii.

Can someone explain why the original NiGHTS was such a good game?

An online Wii game? That must be a typo. Friends codes.... FUN.

NiGHTS was a great game, but it's just hard to explain why. It was very different from a lot of the stuff out at the time. It was also the game that introduced the analog pad to Saturn.

In a weird way, it was a funky version of SSX before SSX. In the game you played either a boy or a girl, who had got trapped in a weird dream land. They had to gather orbs on the ground (or something, it's been so long) and when they got enough NiGHTS would appear. As NiGHTS you basically flew through an obstacle course performing tricks as you went (you had to gather more orbs, make it through loops and stuff). Eventually you'd get to the boss and if you did well enough, you got a grade good enough to advance to the next level.

It was just a beautiful game at the time, well done and fun. Sega needs to port the original to the VC or include it on the disc :)

Heh heh.... i think you got the name wrong. It's actually Journey OF Dreams. No worries though, many are making that mistake. ^_^!
