PS3 And PSP Firmware Update Details

Sony recently released the 1.70 firmware update for the PS3, with a few more promising features.
- You can now download PlayStation format software from the PlayStation Store and play it on PS3.
- You can use saved data for PlayStation format software on the PSP system.
- You can now use the vibration function of accessories that are for use with PlayStation or PlayStation 2 format software.
The latest PSP firmware 3.40 has also been released which includes these improvements:
- Support for PlayStation Network titles has expanded.
- The method of managing certificates under [Game] has been changed.
The changes were made to make it easier to download and play the original PlayStation games purchased from the PlayStation Store. Each game used to have a separate certificate file that would allow the game to be played on your PSP, making the player download two separate files. Now the certificate is included within the game file, making it much simpler to play older PlayStation titles. Since the certificates are included with the game now, any previous downloaded games need to be downloaded again to work with the firmware update.

... do they need to pay for the downloadedd game again?...
Hm - my bet is this is a way to keep those pesky Dark Alex loving Open Firmware folks from using this new 3.40 - but I guess we'll see.
