Silent Hill 5 To Be Like SH2, Makes Me Happy

Oh that Pyramid Head, such a trouble maker.

Akira Yamaoka, composer to the Silent Hill series (one of my top five franchises ever!), has stated that the next entry to the Silent Hill universe will be crawling onto next-gen consoles "like PS3 and Xbox 360," breaking the tradition that only put even-numbered entries to the series on Xbox. That much I had already suspected, but he added that Silent Hill 5 will be taken in a direction more along the lines of Silent Hill 2 "in the terms of the way the player is directed and the character's behavior." Which is not a bad thing at all, SH2 is my second favorite, so far, and it's truly is a damned good game.

Silent Hill 3 is by far my favorite (it's the only game in the series to be a direct sequel to a previous entry, in this case, SH1), just thought I should let you know. Anyways, one other thing that will be making a return to the series is the way the camera is setup in SH2, abandoning the over the shoulder perspective that is to be featured in the upcoming PSP game, Silent Hill: Origins (which I am also looking forward to). So, with this news, are you looking forward to Silent Hill 5 any more and has this alleviated fears that it may end up like SH4?

Note: I didn't think that SH4 was bad, but it was fairly obvious that it was not originally designed as a Silent Hill game.

Timsy and I sail in the same Silent Hill-loving boat. Although I enjoyed the second one over the third. The first three were fantastic, while the fourth was wonderfully disturbing, but outrageously difficult. Please, can I make a call for no escort quests in the new game! The escort segment in 4 was too much, it almost ruined the game for me. To this day, it's the only Silent Hill have that I haven't finished.

Speaking of the Xbox: already owning all the Silent Hills on the Sony side, are the Xboxs ones worth picking up for the extra content?

Trachalio, in my opinion, the Xbox version of SH2 is totally worth it (explains why Maria keeps coming back, sort of)...though, SH2: Restless Dreams did come out on the PS2, eventually (it might be a tad harder to find). SH4 is the same on both systems. The only thing that might tip the scales is that both look/sound better on the Xbox than the PS2, but that's about it.

Unfortunately for me, SH4 is the only one that's backwards compatible right now.
