Spider-Man… the Musical?

CATS. Les Miserables. Phantom of the Opera. Chicago. RENT. All fine musicals. But Spider-Man? Just when you thought there might be at least one or two forms of media that the ubiquitous web-slinger couldn’t penetrate, well… nope. Right before Spider-Man Week in New York City (April 30 to May 6) -- a week-long celebration of tangentially Spidey-related events, screenings, parties, and exhibits -- comes this news from Marvel Studios. But oh wait -- it gets even weirder...
Marvel Studios is putting the pieces together for a musical on the Great White Way starring the popular superhero, which will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor, with U2's Bono and the Edge creating new music and lyrics for the project.
Bono and The Edge? Wh-wh-whaaat?
I guess if they created a musical out of Evil Dead, anything’s possible...
Marvel spins Spider-Man into Broadway musical [The Hollywood Reporter]

Bono is an ass and I can't see Spiderman related lyrics coming from him.
I hold no hope for this project.
Yuck! When I read that article - all that I could think of was that terrible "bomb" of a musical: "It's a bird, it's a plane ..." The not-so-delightful musical adaptation of Superman!
Hopefully, this one will pass away during try-outs and workshops....
...b
I hope so, but then again someone decided people would pay money to see Lestat, the musical, so who knows at this point?
