The Last Stand: Chock Full Of Zombie Goodness

laststand.jpg

Games featuring tons of zombie carnage make me automatically want to love them. I don't know why, but I just do. Maybe that's why I own all those Resident Evil titles and Dead Rising... or maybe it's because all the games' heroes are just so dreamy. Anyway, my brother sent a link over to The Last Stand, a fun little web game by Armor Games.

Here's the gist: zombies start popping up, so our nameless hero builds a shelter and starts holding them off each night with his pea shooter of a pistol. After each night, he has to divide his time between repairing the shelter, searching for survivors, and scavenging for new weapons. You have to survive the various onslaughts for a total of 20 nights, but those nights become increasingly difficult and hellish with an increasing number of enemies who quickly become tougher, stronger, and faster as the game progresses. Can you outlast the night? Can you lead your fellow survivors to salvation? More importantly, will you be able to find the chainsaw and unleash hell on those zombies stupid enough to get within your reach?

Wow, that was actually really fun.

Basically, once you get the sawed off shotgun, you can just focus all your time on finding survivors (7 max) or repairing your wall. The sawed off shotgun is simply amazing... and found fairly early...

Yeah, short but sweet game. Little on the easy side, but hey, don't we have plenty of challenges already?

Have to disagree with Musashi though, I've been through the game twice now and my advice is to gather as many survivors as early on as possible. Once you have all 7, their firepower alone will keep most of the zombies at bay. Sticking to this order, I spent a total of 3 hours repairing my barricades, even though I really didn't have to. Searching for weapons is dangerous and takes longer, the less people are on it.

And while we are on the subject, the weapons I used throughout the game were the colt (great firepower, aim for heads), the standard shotgun (just remember to reload if you get a little breather, this takes a while), the hunting rifle (shoots clear through heads, try to line up targets to kill up to 3 in one shot; no worrying about reloading, either) and the very last weapon you get, which will simply mow down anything in its path.

Anybody figured out how you're supposed to get the weapons off zombies?

Wow! What a game! I played like 5 time. It's kinda addicting and for some reason I dusted off my dead rising game and played it right after! The best tactic is The Tek Guy's : Look for survivors then look for weapons. starting 4 or 5, it get easier.
Oh and to get the weapons, wait till the zombie approach the wall then you kill him. I think you also need a free slot too, not sure about that last one...

I nailed the game at the second round.
Just try to keep the barricade damage at minimum the first day.
Then use 6 hours for both survivors and weapons.
A semi-automatic + shotgun combo is great.
At the end, get your hands on the Barret M-95, it rules.
Just aim a little down since the kick is strong. To kill the soldiers, shoot their legs.

I just went through it myself. OMG! You have to get maximum weapon level and try the barret...but it essentially takes away all of the challenge it is sooo powerful (with the exception of using it on the army zombies). I stuck with the Uzi and the hunting sniper before I got the barret as my favorite combo.

But the barret is worth going for at least once, by maximizing your weapon research. Although once you get it, you should easily reach 20th day.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
