Transformers Game Preview

While I've had my doubts, the TV spots for the upcoming Transformers movie has me feeling more optimistic, with the grandeur of the CG 'bots and massive explosions. As for the movie-licensed game, 1up's got a preview of it:
Players choose to play through either an Autobot or a Decepticon story arch... With fully destructible environments and tons of other objects for you to pick up and throw around, the play mechanics cater to the Decepticons at this point. You receive point penalties as an Autobot if you keep destroying everything around you, while you actually get rewarded for all of that stuff as a Decepticon. This balance of play is going to have to be tweaked or else playing as the good guys might not be any fun at all...
Hmmmm. But at least it'll look good: "The 360 and PS3 versions actually use the same character models as the feature film -- straight from Industrial Light and Magic." And another point that's brought up: How can a game about giant transforming robots made by the developers of Lego Star Wars possibly suck? Let's hope it can't (although the last robot-ish game made by Traveller's Tales was the lackluster Bionicle Heroes). Either way, I'm probably going to play it just out of principle...
Michael Bay's Transformers in game form -- Explosions Included [1up]

I still have zero hope for the movie, because when I look at Michael bay's track record, it's like a "who's who" list of crappy movies.
