Turrican Remake By Factor 5 à la Metroid Prime

Gamasutra has a fascinating interview posted with Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht concerning an upcoming return of the Genesis era platformer Turrican. The series began in the early nineties on the C64, and appeared on many systems including the Turbografx-16, Atari ST, ZX Specturm, Amiga and DOS. This new title will mark the third game in the series, one that has never appeared in 3D, until now. Factor 5 will be taking a que from Retro Studios' masterpiece Metroid Prime.
I was looking at Metroid Prime's reinventing of a franchise that had been out there for quite awhile, and we're facing the same thing with Turrican.
Eggebrecht had this to say about the transition from 2D to 3D for Turrican:
Yeah, 2D was all about world exploration in our games, but also about scale. That is one of the things we've transformed into our 3D games, where it's all about scale from macro to micro. I think some of these elements actually do apply, and they're quite different from what you've seen, say, in Metroid, which has a very rigid design.
Retro Studios did an amazing job with transforming Metroid from 2D to 3D. They maintained this incredible sense of scale that instantly reminded me of traversing endless vertical and horizontal corridors from the original. Hopefully Level 5 five can capture the same magic that made Metroid Prime so great.
No date has been set on Turrican. Factor 5 needs to first push out their flying dragon/ground combat extravaganza, Lair for the PS3.

"Level 5 did an amazing job with transforming Metroid from 2D to 3D."
Well, that is pretty wrong ^^''
Metroid Prime was done by Retro Studios (not Level 5), one of Nintendo's second party studios.
Rest assured, I'm sitting in the corner with the tallest dunce cap imaginable.
And who is Eggeburt?! ^^
Level 5 is a non-stop rpg hit factory. Factor 5 made the Star Wars games for the Gamecube that were actually pretty fun (keeping in mind I've never seen the movies)
And Turrican is basically the best thing ever. My old roommate and I discovered the series while extremely bored and taking substances quite illicit, and picked it out because Turrican was a funny word. It turns out that it has one of the most amazing soundtracks we have ever heard, and I still play it to this day, years since I've lived with that guy or smoked anything I shouldn't have.
We were both so into it that we got this image onto a T-shirt: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/shadax665/turrican3_poster_small.jpg
Yes, that's Turrican FIGHTING A DINOSAUR. I forgot the name of the Galactus-esque overlord, but we mostly just referred to him as Turrican't regardless.
