You're In Anime, Charlie Brown!

I was never one who read Charles Schultz's Peanuts strip with any great deal of regularity; I was always a Calvin & Hobbes addict myself (sidenote: when the hell are we going to get a Spaceman Spiff game? I hereby offer to help fund such a venture with my meager savings!), but I occasionally found myself giggling at the adventures of Snoopy when he took on the Red Baron.
One thing I never picked up on, until I watched a very special episode of Family Guy, was the possible lesbianic relationship between Marcie and Patty It certainly seemed possible, once I stopped and thought about it... and apparently I wasn't the only one weighing the possibility:
Because of Peppermint Patty's obvious tomboyishness, and Marcie's resemblance to Billie Jean King, who was the first athlete to publicly acknowledge being in a homosexual relationship, some contemporary writers have inferred a relationship between Peppermint Patty and Marcie; however, Peppermint Patty and Marcie are never specifically portrayed as lesbians in the comic strip. In fact, Marcie's only explicitly depicted romantic interests were, as noted above, male characters. Several television series that have featured "Peanuts" parodies have portrayed Marcie as a lesbian, including Family Guy, Robot Chicken, and Saturday Night Live, where Marcie is in love with Peppermint Patty.
So you can imagine, while I was hanging out over at the WomenGamer forums, I found this little little image and couldn't stop laughing once I'd dragged my mind out of the gutter. In fact, it turns out that there's an artist by the name of ~gNAW on Fur Affinity who has a whole collection of images regarding the peanuts as adult anime characters. And they're all good. I mean really, really good. My personal favorite is the various drafts of Snoopy and his kids.

That gallery rocks! I love the updated Peanuts gang! My favorite are the boys--Schroeder, Franklin, and Pigpen; and angsty tough Charlie Brown isn't bad either. :)
That gallery IS awesome! It's a shame (what with copyrights and all) that it can't be turned into a graphic novel or even a real anime...I'd definitely want to see it! And who knew Pigpen, of all people, would turn out so hawt? Woof!
That is a such a sweet concept! Not only did he put them in anime form, but he brought them into their teenage years! The best part is that all of them make a lot of sense. My favorites are Lucy and Linus. Lucy's shirt is fabulous!
And this is bad, but am I the only one who thinks Pigpen is kinda hot?
Did i just see a link to furaffinity? OMFG That would never happen on a straight gamers website unless it was to encourage flaming. SWEET!
You linked to my website, I feel loved. :D
Try http://calvinandhobbes.awardspace.com/ -- it's got the full C&H database searchable.
Wait, Silver, you drew these!? They're awesome!
I think he means Furaffinity. If I'm not mistaken Silver runs it or something.
For which he has the undying thanks of all us furries of course. ;)
This artstyle seems like the one from the guy who does the Golddigger comics. It might even be him, I don't know.
I can't say I like the style when drawing women (for some reason it makes them look like skanks IMO), but the few men he draws are very hot.
Not that I'm hung-up on gender, but I think gNAW (the artist) is a "she".
Oops! I may have put my foot in my mouth...further investigation indicates it just might be a "he" after all...I'm so confused! But I like the art just the same. The Snoopy pups are just too cute!
Nobody's flamed the furries yet? I don't think I've ever seen that on a blog. Makes me that much happier with the GG readership.
Oh, and the pics are awesome! Go ~gNAW!!
No MuddBstrd, I meant FurAffinity. Nexus was right. :3
I'm an FA Admin.
sorry, not to sound like a prude, but I don't quite like that art. What's up with that wierd girbil paw on the left hand? And the designs is really angular, really wish the artist could take the time and rotate his illustrations to understand how the anatomy worked acordingly.
If you like that's style, that's cool, but I definatly perfer Bill Waterson's Calvin and Hobbis instead, I'm so inspired by the lush and rich forest and the wild, different designs when Calvin went into the world of his imagination :)
