80GB PS3 Coming To...Seoul!
Did you know, I made the exact same face when I first heard this news? I did. But you can stop now. Seriously. Yes, it seems to be true: Sony, having vigorously denied the existence of an 80GB PS3, has announced that an 80GB PS3 model - and only an 80GB PS3 model - will launch in South Korea on June 16 and sell for about $556. Sony, whence all the lies?
And while the 80GB PS3 has passed a recent FCC filing for a potential US release, Sony is once again vigorously denying that they have any plans to bring the big boy anywhere outside of Korea. Which means, if my Sony-unable-to-stop-lying diagram is any indication, that 80GB PS3s will soon be available everywhere.
