Blu-ray Diode Shortage Ending - PS3 Cost Cut By $100

According to DigiTimes, the Taiwanese manufacturers of the blue-laser pick-up heads and diodes used in making the PlayStation 3's Blu-ray drive (and until now, the limiting factor in PS3 production) are set to ramp up production of the secret ingredients, which should also be dropping in price by as much as $100.
More diodes for less money means Sony could pass on that savings to its customers via a PS3 price drop. Lord knows a $100 PS3 price cut would be a PR coup, besides being a solid answer to the steep prices that have left many gamers complaining, "Come on, dude." But Sony's also had massive losses from the PS3 production and launch, last year's financially brutal laptop battery recall, and who knows what else - might it seem wiser from a long-term point of view to use the diode savings to bolster the company's pocketbook?
Beats me, man, I was an English major. But if Sony doesn't cut PS3 prices, I will write a very angry sestina.

A price cut would be awesome, but I'm not really counting on it for the reasons mentioned above. Sony has taken a real slug in the stomach lately, and they need to shore up those numbers and fast... Whether a price cut would help or hurt is a question for economists, not me, but good news for them either way.
Sony can afford to take the continuing losses. What they cannot afford to do is remain in third position in terms of installed userbase in the next-generation console war.
Hey Tiny Dancer, can you write a sestina for us anyways?
I dunno what a sestina is but you sure done make it sound mighty purdy. I think Sony would rather stick by their financial guns and say "We deserve to charge you this much"
