Die Hard Goes Mobile

Gameloft has just announced that they are bringing a new Die Hard game, based on the upcoming movie, to mobile phones. While this bodes well for mobile individuals, console gamers are getting the shaft. Live Free or Die Hard is the fourth in the series of movies starring hotsy totsy John McClane, who must stop terrorists from hacking the Unites States’ computer infrastructure. The movie will be hitting theaters this summer, while the game will launch shortly before on June 27, 2007.
"The Die Hard series has been extremely successful and we are pleased to be working with 20 Century Fox to extend the brand experience to mobile phones," said Gonzague de Vallois, vice president, Gameloft. "The fans of the Die Hard films are literally- 'die-hard,' and we are eager to deliver a game that brings the action, intrigue and humor of the movie, to gamers and fans alike."
I’m a bit irked by this news. I was expecting a new Die Hard game across all platforms imaginable, with a digitized Bruce Willis to do my bidding. I’d pull on his polygons any day, girl. Now I’m going to have to settle for some simple cell phone game that will probably keep my interest for a millisecond, while I pine away for more Zuma. Who really plays cell phone games for any extended period of time in the US? Please, if I'm going to play a game on the go, it's going to be a DS title.
