Dragon Quest... ARCADE?!
So I'm absolutely speechless with envy when I see videos like this. This arcade game, called Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road is actually a turn based battle game that is activated by cards! Bring your cards with you and those are the monsters that you'll be able to fight with. Build your own great team and pit it against the great and terrible bosses. It sounds like more fun than I can imagine, and I'm pretty sure that unless I book a trip to Shibuya in the next month or so, I'll never be able to try it out.
It really is genius though. Make people spend money on getting the cards, then drop another dollar to play with them on the sword-laden, arcade mammoth machine. Ka-ching!

O...M...G....
I WANT THAT SOOOOO BADLY!!! Pirate Prince, we've gotta find out what petition we have to sign to start getting that stateside and pronto! We need 12 of those in every school...(ok, maybe that's a little too eccentric, but at least one per state, right?)
It's much too sad that the arcade is essentially an extinct species in America.
Collectable Card Game + DQ = total arcade domination in Japan.
If only these games were big over here in the state... :_(
Take heart, Pirate Prince! Squeenix is bringing Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker over here Stateside, which has me totally geekin' out. Me and DQ have only been so-so buddies, but the DWM/DQM series has TOTALLY been my buddy ever since I first found it. If only there were some way to get my butt-kickin' Florajay, Jaya, from my ancient old GB cartridge to the pretty li'l DS cart and set her free to pwn some noobs in the wild world of WiFi, but alas, it is not to be. I'll have to re-make her from scratch... and folks, it AIN'T gonna be pretty.
