Endless Dragon Quest Remakes On The Way...Possibly

In an unsurprising answer to a question that wasn't asked, Square-Enix CEO Yoichi Wada had the following sentence ready concerning Square's release plans for Dragon Quest IX on the DS:
"This summer, we'll release Battle Road in arcades and Sword for the Wii. Following that, we're thinking of a release for 9 once we've released remake versions and so forth."
This was mentioned in a Q&A session in the online version of Japan's Mainichi Shimbun. While no specifics were given as to which entries of the Dragon Quest series would be remade, you'll remember what a massive hit the re-release Dragon Quest V was on the PS2. A remake of the Dragon Quest series could potentially give Square-Enix an incredibly healthy dose of profit. Now, for that "so forth" portion of his statement, IGN theorizes Wada was "referring to off-shoots. Itadaki Street DS could fall into that category, as it features Dragon Quest characters." Finally, no price was even hinted at for DQ IX. I guess we'll see what happens!
