EVE: Online Scandal Continues...

Remember how, a couple of months ago, we mentioned how EVE: Online had a bit of a scandal going on? Guess what? It's not over yet. For anyone who's interested, you can check out an incredibly detailed summary posted by a "customer" who kept some very good notes about everything that went down.
Some of the more detailed parts of the story are a bit over my head, largely because I've never been a part of the community. From the bits I did understand, though, it sounds like CCP is going to do some major backpedaling in order to make things right.

EVE online felt like it had a lot of unfulfilled potential. But it was gorgeous for the small amount of resources it took up. Shame they're all over the smear pages lately.
Here's a recent territory map in EVE Online:
Recent EVE Map
I would say that Band of Brothers has lost their dev support, judging from that map. At least they don't seem to single-handedly own a third of the universe any more.
Still, the system isn't designed for individual players to have fun, it's designed for guild leaders to have fun playing power and drama games. There is no content, no story, no great ongoing story. It's just a bunch of people killing each other, constantly playing King of the Hill.
I tried it for six months or so. Their skill point system is the most boring thing imaginable. Eventually I returned to WoW, and I have more fun on any given day on WoW than I had in any two months in EVE Online. I desperately want to play a spacegoing MMO, but EVE Online left me cold.
Actually, they've responded to this. Now they are accusing Goonswarm of faking the scandal and flooding their support system over a holiday weekend to make them respond slower and look bad.
So either Goonswarm is evil or CCP is. Nobody is sure which.
Little of both, Muddy.
Long story short, the Goons were frustrated with a lack of communication and a continuing perception of corruption on the part of CCP. After getting stonewalled going through proper channels they overreacted (spamming the official forums) in their attempts to get an official response.
Instead of biting the bullet and issuing a good PR statement with an apology/scapegoat/promises of change/preliminary action-plan to assuage their rabbling customers, CCP decided to retaliate, antagonizing the Goons, insinuating a concerted attack was made to slander their business, and hinting at potential legal action against involved parties.
angry customers + unprofessional attempts at PR = juicy mmo drama
