Final Fantasy IV DS Japanese Trailer
With its new cinematics and 3D look, Square Enix's redux of Final Fantasy IV for the DS sounds like a Final Fanboy's wet dream, no? Well, if you think your dreams were damp before, check the sheets after you take a look at this freshly-released trailer for the game - surely those aren't DS graphics I'm looking at? Ever since those comparison shots I've been in a kind of FFIV-starved fugue state, drooling over the fun to come but afraid to really think about it lest I be unable to think of anything else... sigh.
And check out the Tower of Zot Babel! If that isn't the whole freaking reason gamers love remakes, I'm a Lvl 1 Onion Knight. Hand to god.

Mmmm Golbez's Theme.
Totally made my day. Just the impact of Golbez's theme at the end sent shivers down my spine...
Tiny, you are my personal savior for posting that.
1. Is this thing going to have voice-acted cut scenes!? On the one hand, that would be impressive if they were able to fit that into a DS cartridge. On the other hand, I kind of like the voices of some of my most favorite characters of all time being decided by my imagination.
2. This is due out in Japan by the end of '07!? This game is a lot farther along in development than I thought! Could this mean we might get an American release by spring '08? Be still my FFIV-loving heart!
3. That cut scene featuring the battle near the Tower of Babil was awesome. That means it might also have the Giant of Babil. *drool*
Re: voice acting;
I would be surprised if they included it, however it's certainly not outside the realms of possibility. It's possible to get up to 2GB flash on a DS cart, so while expensive, it is possible.
This was the first Final Fantasy I've ever played, and it's always been my favorite. I might end up getting a DS just for this.
I was going to include a list of all the revamped cutscenes I'd pay cash money to see, but I couldn't even get to the first trip underground before it became uncomfortably lengthy. Top of my list? The sacking of the desert castle for the Fire Crystal.
I guess I was expecting to see some gameplay or something. Eh, this is a trailer for a Squenix game. What was I thinkin'?
Tiny, I'm pretty sure that's the Tower of Babel in the trailer. The Dwarven tanks haven't showed up yet when Cecil goes to the Tower of Zot to save Rosa. I've obviously played this game too many times over...
