Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Trailer

Here it is, finally, a look at Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for the Nintendo DS. It's a decently long trailer that shows a good amount of gameplay, and it looks heartening. After being pretty nonplussed by Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, I was a little worried that this game would be a DS version of that game. Although there are similarities--it appears that the main characters start out in a more "realistic" world like our own and then find themselves sucked into an Ivalician type world with battles and magic. Summons are still in place, and it appears that all of the spells are revamped as the lighting effects are all gorgeous.

Time will tell if the battle system is a little more fun than FFTA, but I could swear I saw a judge appear in the trailer for a second there. I found the limitations of the judge system easy and irritating in the last game so I hope there has been some sort of an update. On the other hand, I love the character design (especially Cid and Hardy the moogle) and the maps looks lovely. It appears that there might even, for the first time ever in a Final Fantasy Tactics game, be some much needed element of battle strategy depending on where and when you attack on the main map.

Bring it on, Square-Enix. I want this game to be harder than the original Tactics game.

I'm still not impressed by it. I hate what Advance did to the series and so far this isn't making up for it. :(

I don't think judges are going to be a part of the battle system this time, though. At least they're not present in any of the battle shots.

Because this is part of the Ivalice Alliance, judges are going to be a part of the story, however. There's even one in the logo. ;P

I'm intrigued by the new jobs they flashed in the trailer (the second five pieces of art, not the first pieces, which were just the generic race-types familiar from the first game). It also seems that Seeq are playable as well.

I don't share the malice towards Tactics Advance that so many people show. I guess I'm just that much of a kid by heart. ;D

I LOVED ffta. I spent so many hours in that title. The music, the art, the gameplay, everything was perfect. Dunno what you guys are smoking.

it is a matter of opinion. games are different for different people.

but i do have to say i prefer the original PS tactics much more than the GBA version. snoresville. fifty percent through and it felt like a chore more than a game.
