GameTap Is Official Grimm HQ
I've been following American McGee's Grimm for awhile now, which isn't an easy job because there is very little to go on. Beyond some stunning concept art by Lin Ran, I had little idea what the final product of the company's Shanghai-based production house SpicyHorse would look or play like.
Finally, according to American McGee's weblog, there was an announcement that GameTap would be releasing the game throughout 2008 in episodic form. This was recently confirmed by GameTap's content VP Ricard Sanchez, saying:
“American McGee is one of the best known and most dynamic developers in the industry today and Grimm is the perfect fit with our GameTap Originals brand. American is really exploring the potential of episodic game development. Adding this exciting new title to our list of already successful episodic game titles shows our commitment to this proven format.”
Grimm, which has been described as a traditional action adventure quest game with a "sandbox world" and inhabited by a "compelling collection of handdrawn characters... built upon twisted takes on the best known tales of Western fiction," will also be using an innovative battle mechanic based upon the idea that "words are weapons." That alone is enough to make me consider joining GameTap. Look for more info as 2008 approaches.
