GameTrailers Does The 8-Bit Countdown
There's a few numbers that I don't quite agree with, but that's really just the nature of a top-ten list. There will always be someone to argue with the choices made, because when it comes down to it, gaming is a largely subjective experience, especially when it comes to the games of our youth. While I spent countless hours playing with Little Nemo: The Dream Master and hold it dearly, some people not only never played it but would probably find it miserable upon downloading. I have never enjoyed sports games, so the numbers they gave to games from that genre were essentially throw-away slots for me.
So view the list, make your arguments about what should go where, and enjoy. But remember I didn't make the list, so if anything upsets your delicate gaming sensibilities, don't come crying to me.

I am just ecstatic that Dragon Warrior IV got a mention and did not get overlooked by Final Fantasy I (Dragon Warrior IV really is better...and we all know there are many out there who would say Final Fantasy I just because of what happened afterwards and not what the game itself is). Like you, Pirate Prince, I would say I agree with most of it and to myself, the sports games are a throw-away slot. But I think that if they were going for most important games that changed gaming, I'm sure Dragon Warrior I should have been a mention instead...it essentially is the birth of turn-based RPGs (and for those FF fans trying to deny it, the sequel was even released before FFI was).
hey where's double dragon? and battletoads? Sigh...
And i agree NR, Dragon Warrior I did make a turnstone in gaming history here
Yep, that's the Ducktales song from the moon level. I should know, I played that game to death. My best score was somewhere around $21,000,000.
River City Ransom? never played it, and Super Tecmo Bowl? are you kidding me *sigh* but on a positive note Yes, I was happy to see Dragon Warrior IV make it on thier list- as it was a GREAT game, but before Final Fantasy and yes before Dragon Warrior (at least in the US) was the RPG that started it all for me- Phantasy Star. This game was wonderful- amazing story, memorable characters and the graphics, while 8-bit really pushed the boundries, just compare it to DW or FF and you'll see what I mean. Granted I may be a bit of a PS fan boy- I'll sing the praises of that series forever (not including the recent PS games which totatly went askew from the story and greatness of the orginal)
Ahh, such memories. =)
Yay! Megaman 2 appeared there ^^
