How Unforgettable Is YOUR Boss?

Was King Hippo really that amazing a boss? Colette over at Destructoid certainly seems to think so. After recounting her former Punch Out prowess and recent defeat at the hands of regal tub of lard, she goes on to analyze just what makes a boss so memorable: unforgettable design, solid dialogue, and a battle pattern that must be followed. While I'll admit that Hippo was entertaining, I thought that tiger-themed boxer was way cooler (what with his teleporting move and all).
Personally, I maintain that the final boss in Gun was one of the most unforgettable characters I encountered because he was such a bitch to beat... and was voiced by Ron Perlmen. What about you? Who do you think is the most memorable boss you've encountered? And no, you can't list Sephiroth: that character is a little too played-out.

Just sheer brilliance in the design of the fight and the character themself. I'll never forget "the End" in mgs3, that fight just went on for-phedging-ever but didn't get boring, it was intense to the hardest of core.
And Marionette Owl from the gbc MGS, his messed up past and dolls made for a fight that just pulled me in and wouldn't let me go.
My favs in no order:
Res' Boss Rush into final boss with perfect ending - Was so hard for me, but so awesomely rewarding (even if it's a minor change).
Shadow of the Colossus' Final Colossus - Aside from the semi-major story element that sucker-punches the player with emotion, this boss is nothing short of epic. An incredible experience!
MGS' Psycho Mantis - This was my first "fourth wall breaking" moment in games.
Segagaga - I've only watched my friend play this one, but this shump sequence has the player fight against every Sega console ever made. Youtube it. It's breathtakingly awesome!
Gunstar Heroes' 7 Force - The guys at Treasure are the most imaginative boss designers and this one is their greatest! This boss morphs between 7 different unique forms. It's better in motion than in words. Go play it!
Elite Beat Agents' last two songs - Over the top, nonsensical, and silly, but hard as hell and strangely uplifting.
Vega from Street Fighter. The first time I fought him and he completely destroyed me with headstomp/headstomp/Psycho Crusher/throw, I couldn't fathom ever beating him. He's got a fantastic design, great backstory and just an all around great sense of presence.
Kefka from FF6 and his tower of madness. The amount of effort that went into the design and how it spoke volumes on his psyche as someone driven mad with power. The wonderful evolution of him as a villain throughout the game, and the satisfaction of beating him the first time.
Magneto from X-Men: Children of the Atom.
Anyone who's played this knows that he must be one of the hardest bosses in any fighting games.
It wasn't so much a question of how much you'd be able to damage him, but rather if you could even get past his shield (which seemed to stay up constantly).
Argorok, the dragon from Twilight Princess. When I first discovered the Dual Hookshot in his dungeon, I immediately began wondering how it would be used in a boss fight. The answer was incredible.. :D
I know this one may sound weird, buuuut....
The Ultimate Being, [Parasite Eve]
Quite possibly one of my favorite games ever made (Definitely in the top five), I remember this battle plain as day. From evolution to evolution, things seemed easy enough.....until he evolves to the point where he is immune to damage. I remember it well; my pants were permanently stained there-after. But after your special bullets are delivered (In style, I might add. A guy jumping out of a helicopter, bursting into flames instantaneously? Even the prissiest of faeries had nothing on this guys flames!), you're free! Until you have to escape the ship, with the mutant remains floating after you. That was where I got pissed. FOUR TIMES. I had to relive that experience FOUR FREAKIN' TIMES. I was not impressed. But when I FINALLY managed to escape from that bastard baby.....I was never more proud of myself. So that definitely has MY vote for best boss battle.
Smithy from Super Mario RPG was also a terrific boss. The satisfaction of beating that smug bastard into submission and restoring peace to the Mushroom Kingdom, TOTALLY worth the price of admission.
And that is my rant for the month! :D
Thank you BoT for saying no Sephiroth (especially for all of those who claim him while they had Knights of the Round...which makes the battle a joke-filled cakewalk with pink icing)!!!
I must agree with Alex Curley and RyGuy for Kefka and The Ultimate Being. They already covered the important parts though.
