Jessica Biel Being Considered For Chun Li

Oh sweet Jesus on a stick, you've got to be kidding. Apparently Jessica Biel is being considered for the role of Chun Li in the character's eponymous upcoming movie. Uh... yeah, that makes a lot of sense... seeing as how, y'know, Ms. Biel is not at all Chinese in any way shape or form.
According to Latino Review's "Casting Scoops" section, both Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba passed on the project and now Biel might possibly get to fill the character's combative tights and thick-soled ballet boots. Man, I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall at that executive meeting when someone said, "Hey, let's cast Chun Li as a white girl with practically no acting ability!" Geez, guys, couldn't you have at least considered some Asian actresses like Bai Ling or Zhang Ziyi for the part? On top of that, I won't even have the guilty pleasure of watching Raul Julia ham up the role of M. Bison in this flick, so I don't foresee any reason to actually support it with my money.

zomg that cant be real real
my head asplode
Um...are there no Asian actresses anymore?
David Carradine played a Chinese character in Kung Fu... and he's not Chinese... not Chinese at all...
but Jessica Biel is just a terrible choice.
tell me the truth, they don't want us to like any videogam movie, right?
you know, some very light make up is all it would take to make her look EXACTLY like chun li. it's not like they're casting James Earl Jones for the freakin' role; Biel doesn't that wide "round eye" look that, say, Rosie O'Donnel has.
She's fucking perfect for the role. Unless you wanna cast Ming Na again. Hmmm, and include a nude scene like in that crappy wesley snipes movie, cuz she's fucking hot.
wow if this turns out to be true i sure as hell will never watch the film. infact if they do this i hope it bombs horribly.
david carridine may have played a chinese character but that was the 70's
You know, that reminds me.... how old do they think the audience for Street Fighter is? Sure, she's a Maxim pin up model, and any film she makes gets a maxim cover shoot.... but who plays street fighter? That's a very dedicated, detailed, strategic, serious fighting game. Like the first film, that was all tounge and cheek dumb fun aimed for kids.... but very quickly the fanbased just walked away from it and bought the Japanese Anime instead which was released around the same time.
The Street Fighter audience is more like that kind of a fanbase... so I don't know.... is Jessica Biel for that fanbase?
......They should just see that the animated movies of Street Fighter are 10 times better than any action crap movie they put out.
I can't believe you mentioned Bai Ling. If Bai Ling is Chun-li I will seriously kikouken that bitch.
I get the feeling this will be just like the DOA movie. I shudder when I think of such a horrible transition from game to movie.
Just... Jesus. Not everything is capable of being turned into a movie and retaining its appeal.
