New York Times Reviews LOTR Online
New York Times' journalist Seth Schiesel has written a raving review of the controversial Lord of the Rings Online, praising the melding of fine storytelling with the immersiveness of the world of Middle Earth. He even goes so far as to say that poet W.H. Auden (totally a literary queen), were he alive, would have loved the game! Although I find the idea of Auden playing any games pretty laughable, let alone an MMORPG, he makes his point clear by pointing out what Auden said in a review of Tolkien's trilogy: that the value of any fantasy is the way in which it provides a mirror into our own world.
Now I don't know anything about that, but it's a pretty well written and interesting review, and rare to see much video game mention in a publication as respected as the NY Times. Take a look here, if you have a login for their online counterpart, which since it's free, you really should. I mean, it's the New York TIMES!
