Simpsons Gameplay And Interview

I didn't even know this was in the works, but apparently a new Simpsons game is on it's way to any console near you (it has been announced for PS3, 360, PSP, DS, and Wii). It doesn't appear to be a tie-in to the July released movie, and at one point in the interview/gameplay presentation, the designer says they still have six months to go on it.

It looks fun though, and more in-depth than recent Simpsons based games. As any platformer worth it's salt, puzzle solving appears to play a large part, as well as item collection. Things are mixed up by allowing the player to control any of the titular family, with each using their own skills. The videos display an ultra fat Homer that flies around destroying anything in his fatty path and Bartman flying around and shooting shorts-eaters down with his slighshot. Lisa, Maggie and Marge's abilities have yet to be announced.

I was a bit relieved, however, to hear that it wasn't ready for release, as the videos have a distinctly half-finished feel to them. While the characters look perfectly rendered in 3D, the landscapes have a clean Simpsons-style aesthetic, yet somehow seem empty. What do you guys think?
