Sony Gamers Day 2007 Video Gallery and Impressions

Sony had a rather impressive lineup at this year's Gamers Day. The PS3 has been off to a slow start, but with the games they showcased at their press event, they have some meaty titles right around the corner that may snag some converts to their overpriced system. There have been too many videos to show on the front page, so I placed them after the jump with my impressions listed below. But don't take my word for it, see them for yourself.

Warhawk ‘On Foot’ Gameplay
Not all of the combat takes place in the sky, this video explores some of the ground combat on foot and in some vehicles. The transitions from foot to vehicle looks seamless. The character looks very agile and more akin to a faster Unreal Tournament speed rather than Gears of War.

Heavenly Sword
Exquisite Facial animations and beautifully directed voice over sequence. The gameplay is fast and furious, giving me the feeling that this may be the God of War killer. There’s a nice timed action sequence as she’s running across some large ropes. Well animated combat system, but the enemy AI doesn’t look very vicious. This footage may be early in the game, but who can say at this point.

Lair
Short and sweet trailer that showcases the dragon flight and introduces several characters from the game.

SOCOM Tactical Strike ‘Snipe’
Great team-based gameplay in the tradition of the franchise. Lush foliage that highlights the graphical prowess of the PSP. Bizarre voice over that makes me feel like I’m listening to Stephen Hawking’s audio book for A Brief History of Time.

Folklore ‘Mystery‘ Trailer
Um, what can I say? It makes me jones for a PS3, really hard. I think I need to start a piggy bank, a rather rotund piggy bank.

Yeah, Folklore looks like it may be what convinces me to get a PS3...

Eh. I still see nothing to make me shell out $500 or $600 for a PS3. More games, better games, and a lower price, and then I'll think about it. Until then, I'll enjoy my 360 and Wii. Oh, and my PSP. So Sony doesn't feel left out. Even if I play with my DS about five times as often.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
