Soul Calibur Legends For The Wii

Fans of 3D fighting games seem divided into two disciplines of combat, hand-to-hand fighters and weapon-based pugilists. While most will debate which hand-to-hand franchise is the best from Tekken, Dead or Alive, or Virtua Fighter, in the realm of weapons, Soul Calibur undeniably one of the most solid fighters around. The series has seen great success in it’s four iterations beginning with Soulblade for the PS1. Now the franchise is taking a detour from the one-on-one fighting formula with Soul Calibur Legends for the Wii.
This winter, Namco Bandai will release the next evolution of the series as a third person action adventure that utilizes the motion sensing capabilities of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk for a unique approach to the legendary fighter.
Taken from the press release:
In Soulcalibur Legends, follow the 16th century exploits of Siegfried and Soulcalibur characters, new and old as they find themselves on a quest for ultimate power in order to save an empire from destruction. Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as their weapons of choice, players perform moves and combos using orchestrated slashes and movements. Sword fighting capabilities are pushed to the limit as gamers unleash special attacks to crush scores of enemies and large bosses. Earn honored titles such as Knight or Soldier as you master special attacks acquired throughout the adventure while battling through diverse stages and environments. With multiple modes of play and the help of familiar faces, the Soulcalibur universe will be viewed in an entirely new light.
I am pleased to see that Namco is opening up the franchise to new possibilities with this upcoming title. The control and gameplay has always been the best aspect of the series and I would like to see if they can pull of the same magic with motion sensitive controls. Hopefully they will include one of the previous Soul Calibur games as an unlockable in the new title. All I want is to be able to kick some ass with Raphael’s foil whilst thrusting the Wiimote with delicate touch of a dandy fop.

Oh wow, I need to have this game!
As a fan of Soul Calibur series, I really hope they make a good story for this game.
I think it's a crying shame that the backstories in fighting games are usually so sucky, when a good plot tying the different fighters together would make the games so much better.
But I guess most people play fighting games for just the fighting, and aren't expecting anything else from them... (except big jiggly boobs, bleargh! XP )
