Square Enix Party Announcement Round-Up

It was a good week to be a Square Enix fan. Prepping for their big fancy expo in Japan over the weekend, Squeenix let loose a generous load of announcements that didn't seem to stop gushing. Now that the party's over and the secrets have all been told, we can sort through the press mess and see what really happened.
New titles confirmed: first and foremost is Square Enix's new IP for the Xbox 360 and PS3, The Last Remnant, getting a simultaneous but unannounced release date for both north America and Japan. We saw the rumblings of a FFXII redux, Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System, which while clumsily titled might give series fans a little bit more meat to grab onto. Everybody likes meat, right?
Meanwhile, the Star Ocean series hauled in three big fish: Star Ocean: The First Departure and Star Ocean: The Second Evolution, PSP remakes of the series' first two games with updated 2D and 3D graphics, voices, and content. The biggest fish of all was Star Ocean 4, although details - including platform - were scant.
A multiplatform release was announced for Chocobo's Dungeon, which will at the very least serve the Wii as a spiritual successor to Chocobo Tales. Color me yellow.
But that's not all! Make the jump for games we've known about that now have more concrete release dates.
Expect to see Dragon Quest Monsters - Joker this fall on the DS, hopefully bringing some of the enormous popularity it has enjoyed in Japan. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Wii hits Japanese stores in July and has been confirmed for a Western release, someday.
Ivalice Alliance Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, a PSP remake of Final Fantasy Tactics (and a game whose title seems to keep growing...enough already, Square) has its sights set on October 2007. FFXII sequel Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings will fly to the DS this winter from its windswept aerie in Japan, where it currently enjoys a top slot on the sales charts.
That's a lotta games, y'all. Like I said, it was a good week for the house that Square built - now all you need is the patience to wait for these goodies...which may be tougher than it sounds.

Anyone else as pissed as I am that Parasite Eve 3 is coming out on a cell phone? I mean, you've got a great character (sexy girl who's a strong cop with psychic abilities), interesting modern story line, and a battle system that actually allowed for movement (at least in 1 - I need to finish 2 someday, but even that was interesting).
And then - a cell phone? What the heck! Well, here's hoping that it will come out for the DS some day, though I can hope for a Wii version or something.
Any word on the Star Ocean releases? Those are the ones I want.
blasphemy (probably spelled wrong whatever) i say parasite eve 3 on a cell phone, why would they do such a dumb thing, i would like to know where you heard this from john hummel.
