Trailer: The Witcher
This is one of the best PC RPG trailers I've seen in a while, and while it doesn't show any gameplay (there's a clip of that after the jump), the production values and the world of The Witcher look very, very cool. Polish developer CD Projekt has been designing the game, which uses a much-enhanced version of Neverwinter Nights' Aurora Engine, for quite some time - the game is based on the fiction of hugely successful Polish fantasist Andrzej Sapkowski and tells the story of Geralt, a mutant assassin trained from childhood to hunt and destroy monsters. Yay.
The gameplay footage after the jump is marked as "combat footage," which hopefully means there's more meaty RPG goodness in the game - the combat vid, while not the best quality, shows some impressive real-time action combat, but I certainly hope a game with such a rich narrative legacy doesn't boil down to a hack'n'slash.
