What Resident Evil Could've Been... But Thankfully Wasn't

gbaresidentevil.jpg

Ever wondered what Resident Evil would've looked like on console systems it was never released for? Yeah, me neither. Based on the video footage displayed over at Destructoid, it looks like Capcom did an awful lot of cringing after they did see what they looked like.

The screenshot is from the attempted port of the first RE title to the Game Boy Color... I'm pretty sure that it was cancelled in what can only be called a mercy killing. There are some other horrifying videos, though I have to admit that the user-created content is more entertaining than the official stuff from Capcom's demos: seriously, the Final Fight mod looks like a blast, and the fact that the Bluerose engine could actually run Resident Evil 2 is pretty damn impressive...

Actually, that's pretty impressive for the Gameboy.

As soon as my best friend quits hogging my bloody Dreamcast I'm so trying that mod.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Aw, I actually think it looks pretty cool! Kind of artistic in a way - like Picasso had something to do with it. I love seeing stuff like this - like the 2D version of Zelda OOT...
