WomenGamers.com Announces Scholarship Winners

Remember how we posted a story about how WomenGamers.com was going to provide two week-long scholarships to the National Computer Camp? Well, the deadline is now passed and my friends Atari and Circe have finally managed to evaluate the bevy of applications they received and announced the two winners: Briana F. (age 16) from Illinois and Elizabeth H. (age 12) from Michigan.
Both of the girls' essays were excellent, but I was especially touched by the maturity and thoughtful nature contained within Elizabeth's piece:
I do believe that we will continue to see even more violence on video games. It is kind of scarey [sic] to think this way but this is what I see it happening now and the games just seem to be getting worse. That is why I think we need to look at what the future will be like and think ahead on what kids will help kids see the world around them instead of just what is on the video screen.
Briana and Elizabeth, from all of us here at GayGamer, congratulations on your awards! When you're gaming industry bigwigs in a few years, we'll buy you both some drinks at the 2016 Game Developers Conference.

ยกFelicidades to Liz and Briana!
Elizabeth's entry really made me giggle, but she expressed herself very well. If a 12-year-old can notice the increasing graphic violence in video games, that obviously says something.
Saludos.
