Capucine: The Wii Game You've Never Heard Of
One of the things I love most about being a gamer is seeing how people can innovate the genre. Make something completely new that goes against the grain. Capucine is a new game in development for the Wii by French company NoCulture Team. The focus of the game is to help give life back to a dying world through the power of a little girl and her capucine flower.
This game takes place in a fantastic universe where everything is dead. The player controls a child who holds a “capucine”. This flower enables her to survive in this desolated world. The little girl can hand on her own life to the surroundings thanks to a beam of light she can cast from her hand. To maintain life, water will be vital. However, the player must be careful not to animate the shadows of the surrounding elements. Indeed, animated shadows will try to steal the flower in order to prevent the child from accomplishing her destiny: revive the World.
The concept is frankly fascinating to me and the Wii remote controls are sure to make it interesting as you you it to cast light around the world. The music and rather desolate surroundings make me think of Shadow of the Colossus a bit. As it's in the early development stages, I won't be too hard on the graphics which remind me a lot of American McGee's Alice and the early works of Lionhead Studios. Even in it's early state, though, it looks like it will be a beautiful game. I just hope this game sees the light of day and doesn't go the way of Sadness.

Oh my... now that's style. It reminded me of ICO. I hope that the world you have to revive will be big, and that by the final version of the game, the girl can run =p
Otherwise, it'll feel slow paced to me.
I agree, it seems they've borrowed a few ideas from Ico here ... aside from the Golden Girls color scheme anyway. I will forgive both because as far as inspiration goes, you couldn't have any better source material than Ico and Bea Arthur's wardrobe.
