Help Bring Mother 3 Outside Japan!
One of the great shames of my young life has been not being able to play the much anticipated sequel to the lovely little Earthbound RPG that could, Mother 3. Despite having a rabid cult following, Mother 3 was deemed to fringe for American gamers and was never released on the GBA outside of Japan.
That could all change though, because just such a group of rabid fans has been doing their damndest to push Nintendo into doing what they want: a port Mother 3 as a Nintendo DS title multinationally. Starmen.net has been inciting it's followers to send mail of their Earthbound fan art to Nintendo in an effort to show their artistic obsessive hyper-fandom, engaged in phone call blitzes, and even cleverly started the campaign on Mother's Day (May 13th, 2007). If this is something you are interested in, go see how you can take part!
One small step for an RPG nerd, one giant leap for nerdkind.

Oh man. If this were ported I'd totally buy it again. It's such a messed up game - it does crazy things with storytelling I've never seen done in games before, especially not games with Earthbound's awesome innocent art style. And it's really, really dark, with, as far as I can tell with my limited Japanese skills, pro-socialist themes.
I can't get enough of this game. I hope the campaign succeeds.
Dear Prince we are united in our desire to bring Mother 3 stateside. There are two groups out there that are working on a fan translation of the game, but I want a proper port. I've been following this game since it showed up on the back of the N64 console box, and was crushed when it disappeared.
I really hope that they release this, starmen.net has been pushing for it but who knows..
I have heard of some group over at the romhacking forums that were working on a patch for the game, which might be the best people who can't read japanese can hope for :/
