History Channel Initiative "View It, Then Do It"

The History Channel is about to release the second season of their aerial combat show “Dogfights”. In conjunction with the release of the show, The History Channel and Kuma Games have partnered to bring us a series of online games that allow gamers to relive the dogfights examined in the show. Kuma will be using a modified version of Valve’s Source engine for the FPS/Flight Sim games. They are calling this cross-media form of entertainment “View It Then Do It”.
This is a great way to reinforce the facts learned in the show, with a simulation that gives players the chance to be an active participant in historical battles. It seems that The History Channel can show gamers and non-believers that games can be fun and informative simultaneously, without the completely heinous moniker “edu-tain-ment”. Just typing that word made me dry heave for 15 minutes straight.
