Japanese PS3 Price Reduction Bundle

Recently Sony has been under pressure to drop the price of their luxury-branded PS3. The overall sales are really slow and it is evident that lowering the price will attract more gamers. They have admitted that a reduction is on the back burner. The first step to having an affordable PS3 package comes with the Hot Shots Golf 5 bundle being offered in Japan.
Hot Shots Golf 5 alone retails at ¥5,980 (US $48.50). They have a different pricing structure for their PS3s than we do. While the 20GB version retails at ¥50,000 ($405), the 60GB model runs about ¥60,000 ($487). Now the Hot Shots Golf 5 20GB bundle costs ¥51,980 ($422) and the 60GB bundle costs ¥61,980 ($503). With my trusty abacus in hand I have subtracted the full retail price of the game from the bundles, and the base cost of the system is $373.50 for the 20GB bundle and $454.50 for the 60GB model.
Now that’s a slimming sales tag for that bulky system. All we need to do is put that price on Deal-A-Meal in the US, and you have yourself a system that will sell like hotcakes. Mmmm… hotcakes.
