Ken Kutaragi Steps Down, Doesn't Have To Pay Child Support For PlayStation

Today's the day. The Father of the PlayStation has finally stepped down. After the success of the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2, big daddy Ken Kutaragi is no longer chairman and group chief executive. However, he will still be around in an advisory capacity for Sony's gaming division. Still, Kutaragi made Sony's imprint in the gaming world what it is today. However, CNN notes that his departure "highlights troubles at Sony amid a series of blunders over the rollout of its PlayStation 3 and intense competition from Nintendo Co.'s popular Wii console and Microsoft's Xbox 360."
After being forced to apologize to the Church of England for Resistance: Fall of Man's use of the Manchester Cathedral and finally admitting that Apple's iPod is the leader in portable music players, it would seem Sony is in rough waters. ...but fear not, this ship will eventually be sailing smoothly again, one day. Of that, I have no doubt. Let us just hope, for Sony's sake, that Kaz Hirai is the captain that makes that happen.

I'd like them to be floundering about just long enough for the PS3 to peter out Dreamcast-style, but I'd like for them to come back in time to prevent Nintendo from getting as arrogant as Sony has been the last few years.
