LucasArts Assembling Lightsaber Game For Wii?

wiisaber.jpg

The sexy game geezers at 2old2play bring us today's perfect marriage of form, function, and Force: buried away in a relatively boring financial analysis of the Wii's success is a throwaway mention by the head of LucasArts that "a Wii game that lets players wield virtual light sabers is on the horizon."

It isn't exactly a surprise, since the Wiimote and the light saber are really just a fancy glowstick away from being the same gizmo, and who doesn't like playing air-Jedi? Also: a light saber grip with force feedback and cool sound effects whenever you swing it? Sign me the fudge up.

Not only would a sweet light saber game rock the socks off of any Star Wars fan worth his or her salt (provided it doesn't play like Red Steel, I guess), but I imagine it'd be a Wii exclusive - which might help the Wii compete against low-res Wii versions of big franchise games that come out on all three console systems. Either way - Sith me, Daddy!

an over-the-shoulder 3rd person game lightsaber game would be pretty fun. Maybe another Jedi Academy game?

Umm...sweet candy geekness?

The execution is key on this, it's easily screwed up. Knowing how Lucas has raped this cash cow I hope they take their time with this.

Won't this be a functionality of the epic Star Wars 6-episode Lego extravaganza when it comes to the Wii?

Lucasfilm already mentioned work was underway on new control schemes for both the Wii and DS for the retooled Lego games.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
