New SimCity Under Construction, Bring Your Hard...Hats

EA seems to be constructing the next entry of Maxis' famed SimCity series entitled, SimCity Societies, according to GameStop which has a release date pegged at November 13, 2007. The name suggests that a greater focus may be given to the inhabitants of your city or cities. To be honest, that really doesn't interest me very much. I've been a big long time fan of the series and am known to 'get stuck' on SimCity 4 for several hours on end when it happens to be a weekend that I seriously have nothing else to do. Even when I do, it makes for a fabulous distraction. Anyways, I like to keep my Sims happy, but so long as it doesn't become The Sims meets SimCity, I'll be happy, because that is not what I am looking for in SimCity 5.
Now, what do I want to see in the next installment? Better highways!! I want more flexibility, both figurative and literal, with the highway system. I'd have to show you on my screen what I mean...but we'll see. I'd also like a game that doesn't bring mid to high range computers to it's knees in large cities (I'm glaring at you SimCity 4). As for a taller order, I wish buildings could be placed at angles? As roads curve, I would love to have my buildings follow. Oh, and an even larger variety of buildings right out of the box would be sweet. For now, I go to sites like Simtropolis for my new building and mod needs to make the lives of my Sims that much better...no, no h4x0rz for Timsy.
So, what would you like to see in the next installment? In the meantime, keep an eye out for the next edition of the US Games For Windows magazine where much more information will be spilt and you can bet more than a little will seep out onto the internets!
EA Resurrects SimCity [CVG]

I like to see it start earlier in history, and further into the future. Maybe a research path but then - too much like civilisation?
MME, that's exactly what it seemed like most of the people over on simtropolis seemed to want, last time I checked!
Whilst a degree of added inhabitant interaction would be good, they have to keep it directly related to the city building. I'd like the little guys to need to actually go and buy food and building supplies and machinery from the correct buildings, as that would make the cities more realistic again.
The last thing I want is more micromanagement like in The Sime ¬.¬
I also want the sims in the city to go to the actual service building to get their stuff too, sort of like the Caesar series, but more modern.
I also heard that takes a lot of processing power though, but we'll see.
An option for fine tuned zoning. Let me specify heavy/moderate/low/none polluting industries. Default to allow any, but let me fine tune that.
I agree with you about the relationship of roads and zones. Allow forks and allow buildings to occupy such triangles. Let me build tunnels that bend. Maybe even allow me to fine tune mass transit routes and rates (although always default to auto-pilot).
Allow Sims to make long commutes. People make two-hour commutes in the real world, and that ought to be reflected, right down to the sharply increased dissatisfaction. In fact, improve the Region system to allow neighbor deals throughout the region, provided the proper (and suitably expensive) infrastructure is in place.
I'd like it to be less difficult than Sim City 4. I really only ever played that game casually (unlike SC3, which I worshipped), because it too too much initial investment to get skyscrapers.
I wonder if this project revisits the stillborn SimNeighborhood (IIRC) which was supposed to mix Sim City with The Sims.
