No One Loves Tenchu Z; Ninja Gaiden Still Cool Though

Man, is it just me or is the Tenchu series is becoming more and more like that of Sonic: The Hedgehog? I mean, the first couple of games for the Playstation were great, but the sequels have become increasing crappy as time's gone on. I've never really understood why this is, either, since it's the same developer that's worked on all the PS2 and Xbox/Xbox 360 games. I wasn't sure if I was going to actually buy Tenchu Z or not, but I figured it'd probably provide me with a fair amount of entertainment as a rental, seeing as how Tenchu: Return From Darkness was a decent (though not amazing) stealth romp. However, I started to get nervous when I saw Kotaku's Frankenreview, each part of which lamented the game's overall lackluster quality. Hoping against hope, I went out tonight and rented Tenchu Z only to return it about four hours later. Everything bad you've heard about the game is true. Oh, God, is it true. I was particularly pissed by the way in which character models will clip through each other during the stealth kill animations. Oh, and the truly awful enemy A.I. is so bad that you will feel dumber simply by proxy.
Seriously, guys, how do you make the sequel to one of your previous games so awful? I mean, you have to try to make it this bad. Jesus, now I have to go play some Ninja Gaiden on my Wii to make me love ninjas again.
Frankenreview: Tenchu Z [Kotaku]

God damn it. I love Tenchu Z. They are a bunch of Pirate Loving anti-ninja zellots.
I didn't listen to anyone, and decided to play it with an unbiased opinion. And I'm having a great time. I loved Wraith of Heaven, and this hasn't disappointed.
The AI improves as you play. But most people wont' get that far because they're sodding lame.
Even in the PS2 version of the first Tenchu game, you clipped through enemies randomly when you used the death kills. So.
Whatever man.
I have loved the two PSone Tenchu games, The two PS2 Tenchu games, I imported the PSP game and I am enjoying the Xbox 360 game. I knew what to expect and I am not disappointed. I was expecting a Tenchu game and I got a Tenchu game. The Xbox Live gameplay is pretty fun.
A tenchu game with pirates. And added shadow, smell, detection. It's really Wraith of Heaven, except as a random Ninja from the hidden village in Goda.
If the AI feels stupid, play it on Hard, and unlock missions 25+. The first ten missions are easy-breezy as much as my ninja is japanesy.
So far my only complaint is that the in game dialog of the guards is not translated or subtitled. I would have liked some optional dubbing since the previous US releases had some “interesting dubbing”.
Don't forget the Xbox Live co-op missions. that rocks!
We all OBVIOUSLY knew it wouldnt be the greatest game, but Tenchu z is still very fun, and a nice break from all the mechs, shooters, and post/pre wars games that's crowding the 360
Word up my ninjas ^^
I've been smashed in the face by the game trailer on gamespot.com multiple times now, and the gameplay looks interesting, but the graphics look like PSX (no no, not "that" PSX). Seriously.
It looks better than a PSOne. Don't judge a game based on some over compressed (flash video or streaming video) trailer
