Speed Up Your PSP With Firmware 3.50

The late May release of firmware 3.50 for the PSP unlocked a rather interesting feature of the PSP. Until the update there was a processing cap of 222MHz placed on the system, the update removed that cap allowing games to use the full 333MHz of processing power. The only game that has breached that cap so far has been Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, which runs at 266MHz. It is rumored at this point that the PS1 downloads from the PlayStation Store will run at 333MHz.
Users will not be able to increase the performance of earlier titles by way of the new firmware. Only games that are released after 3.50 will be able to take advantage of the increased firepower.
Uncapping the processing power is like a double edged sword for PSP users. The increased processing power will allow games to run smoother with faster loading times, but it will also drain the battery quicker. Considering that the PSP has a rather limited battery life, this is an issue that Sony needs to address with their redesign of the PSP.

Um, that picture is speeding up my heart rate to well above 333MHz, if that counts.
isn't that option available with all 3.X OE firmwares? next they will allow us to play custom ps1 isos i suppose ;-)
