Tabula Rasa Vid: Lord British Kicks Ass
Hey, I admit it: I can be one of the bullies in the playground. Not the beat-you-up kinda bully, but maybe the make-a-mean-joke-that-you-better-have-the-stones-to-laugh-at kinda bully. Bully Lite. And since I'm being honest, and even though he's brought me some of the best RPGs of my childhood, Richard "Lord British" Garriott has always been on my short list. There's just something about the guy that awakens my "noogie knuckle" - I'm not trying to steal his lunch money (although I bet that's a pretty penny), I just kinda can't stop myself from wanting to give him a wedgie.
This footage from his latest project, the action MMORPG Tabula Rasa, however, turns that wedgie into a wink. Or a reach-around. I hadn't given the game a terrible amount of attention, probably because of my admittedly totally arbitrary anti-Garriott bias. But this looks sweet - I'm excited about SciFi MMOs, and I'm excited about fast-paced fighting in MMOs - which means I'm eating my words with a double helping of excitement. The bully always loses in the end.
