Civ IV Hits The Ground Running

by: Asterick
I dare say there is not a person on this planet that has not encountered some incarnation of the civilization series at some point in their lives. From PCs to handhelds and consoles, Civilization has been a staple and birth mother of the third person omni-present god simulation genre. This having been said, the beast that is Civilization has gone from large to even larger.
2K Games announced the release of Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword, touting it to be the largest expansion for the well received game to date. As a result, they have enlisted several web comic authors to make a short series titled "Civilization Daydreams" The included others consist of: 8-Bit Theater, Control-Alt-Delete, Dueling Analogs, GUComics, MyExtraLife and PvPOnline. Also included will be a series of animated shorts from several people involved in the production of Over the Hedge (comic and animated film). All of this will debut on the respective authors pages as well as on several civilization fan sites.
On top of the series of comics to be released, 2K games wold also like to enlist the players and enthusiasts to create their own pieces. Anyone is allowed to submit fan art and comics to their webpage (registration is required). The top five winners will receive both an Xbox 360 Wireless Game Controller as well as a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series sound card. The five runners-up will receive an Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver.

You know, I'm probably one of the few who've never played any incarnation of the Civilization games...I've never actually sat down to play it, but I might have to give it a chance to see what all the fuss is about.
is incarnation the right word? maybe i was going for iteration....
