Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic: Elements Coming To Xbox 360

darkmessiah.jpg

Ubisoft today gave the bon mot that Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, the same action RPG-lite title that took PC gamers by storm...sorta... will be coming to the Xbox 360 in 2008 as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements. Players wage a supposedly lukewarm war against dark forces in the scarred realm of Ashan, assuming the role of young hero Sareth and choosing his, y'know, destiny.

The 360 version does boast improvements this time around, with "refined gameplay, design and other technical aspects." 'Kay. Like what?

The control mechanics have been retooled for "pad-controlled carnage" (which is exactly what we always called Mama Tiny's menses), with a new lock-on feature and tweaked stats. Also three new levels with new quests and rewards, as well as a 360-worthy multiplayer experience with all new maps for up to 10 players.

My fellow RPG junkies may be happy to see another decent RPG come to the 360, but I'm still pining over Elveon.

Make the jump for all the mighty and/or magicky details, y'all!

I absolutely love this game on the PC. While overall it is very linear, at any particular point you often have a nearly infinite number of options for how to proceed -- not only in what you can do yourself (with the skills you have selected), but also a puzzle aspect introduced by looking at the landscape and where you can lure enemies to take them out in various ways.

From what I have seen, the main complaint people have had about the game was that it had a lot of bugs and performance issues. Fortunately I never really had many problems, and presumably the XBox version will be much better in that regard.

I was also disappointed that the multi-player version didn't do any kind of physics, which is a big part of what makes the single-player game fun. I think I saw that the new multi-player game on the XBox would include physics, but it doesn't seem like any of this new stuff will be available on the PC. :(
