E3 07: Konami Announces Silent Hill 5
Today's Konami briefing here at E3 brought terrific news for terror fans: Silent Hill 5 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. What do we know? Not a lot. Has that stopped us from barking like mewling pups drunk on the first deep drink of the glory of life? Not a lot.
In a return to shadows and mist, chaos and terror, with all the high-atmosphere and high-definition thrills you'd expect from a next-gen Silent Hill game, Silent Hill 5 follows war vet Alex Shepherd as he returns home from overseas to investigate the disappearance of his little brother, Joshua. Naturally, such investigations lead to the ghost town, Silent Hill, via the insular community of Shepherd's Glen. I'm betting that the character of Alex Shepherd and the town of Shepherd's Glen have some secret connections that go beyond the linguistic, but I'm no super sleuth.
Silent Hill 5 introduces a new mechanic into the series - offensive and defensive maneuvers will allow players to take advantage of a more enhanced combat system as well as solve puzzles with clues from an updated, rich visual and audio environment.

Hm. Guess that was really the true definition of a TEASER. It gave up nothing!
Still, as long as this one goes back to the classic style of 1, 2 and 3, we'll be okay. I never even finished 4... somehow the first person didn't work...
Of course, seeing as how we saw nothing in that trailer aside from a logo, there's no way of knowing for sure!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Silent Hill, why do you taunt me so???!!!
WHOOOOOTS!
Pardon my French but...F U C K - Y E S ! I completely agree with Sir Wootini on returning to the styles of SH 1, 2 and 3. I'm still looking forward to Silent Hill: Origins, which I'll be playing on my shiny new PSP Slim.
Interesting factoid: Mary Sunderland's (from SH2) maiden name was Shepherd. Coincidence? I hope not.
I'm really excited for this. Really, really, really excited for this. I'm glad I know enough PS3 and 360 owners I can just buy it and borrow the system.
SH5 or not, I'm still not shelling clams for any of the new consoles.
Abandon all hope. Silent Hill 5 will not be made by Team Silent. The game is being farmed out to the American producers of Marc Ekos getting down or whatever it was called. This is a disaster. This game will be an insult to Silent Hill. No team silent??? no silent hill. this will be as shit as the movie and silent hill origins. WEEP FOR THE MEMORY OF SILENT HILL FOR THEY HAVE DESTROYED ALL HOPE FOR ITS FUTURE.
